Hello All!

Hello, welcome to my first blog post

A few short months ago we made a "leap of faith" and here is the story:

We lived in the city of Seattle, WA. We seemed to be doing well but somehow also knew things were changing.  We felt like the changes were leaving us behind.  We felt like we weren't fitting in any more.  I guess a basic feeling of "unsettled".

We had made a visit in September to see our daughter and her family in Illinois.  They live on a farm in the central part of the state.  It was intoxicating.  We had room to breathe, we could enjoy nature, we felt free!

It didn't take long and we found ourselves searching online postings for what was available. Low and behold, a darling little blue house popped up and the rest is history.

This blog is about that journey and how liberating the experience has been.

We are at an age where it's not that easy to just decide to move across the country and start over but that's exactly what we did.  We have a few years before we officially retire and we figured we could put together different/next stage of our lives.

Like I mentioned our daughter lives here.  That made the transition much easier.  She is our oldest and she is married with two children.  Yes, grandchildren are a great reason to move across the country.  We are very excited to become a more permanent part of their lives.  Although we left family behind in Seattle as well.  This made the decision difficult.  Honestly this was the only difficult part of the whole experience, but not to be taken lightly.  Our hearts are broken without them.  We will be working to convince them to join us here.

The real catalyst in convincing us to make this crazy move was more than just craving a change. It's really hard to put it into words but we were just getting worn out.  Everything was so expensive and we had to work constantly to make ends meet.  We were missing out on the enjoyment of life because we we too busy.  Also, we were stagnant in our path, spinning our wheels.  This new opportunity offered us hope for a more fulfilling future.  We knew if we had faith and followed this new path that we were making the right decision.

My plan is to continue this blog and update as we go along mostly through photos as my writing leaves a bit to be desired...haha.  I've always enjoyed the artistic side of life and have had so much fun designing our new space.  We will be sharing before and after photos so you can see improvements as we go.  We've already done a lot of work inside the house and are just getting started on the yard.  I'm looking forward to sharing our progress!

Thanks for checking in!
